Turin: the Mayor and the Prefect of Bacau in visit

The determination to carry out their own mission recently prized Save Children’s Life and their partners, who have been working very hard and tirelessly in Rumania, looking after more than 5.000 children.

One of the effects of this constant work is the project started in 2004, when Carlo Giacoma, Save Children’s Life and FDT Chairman, delivered a letter the Rumanian civil authorities wrote to the Mayor of Turin, where they wished for the start of an institutional cooperation, as the relationships between the two cities are rather important.

Due to the preparation of the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin, their visit was postponed.

Meanwhile, other Turin associations working with the Rumanian community in Turin and some other international volunteer ones (Ass. Fratia, Terra del Fuoco, Acmos), moved by the same sensibility, worked to promote and schedule this visit.

The Mayor and Prefect of Bacau, one of the most populated and important cities of that country, will visit Turin from Tuesday the 2th May until Friday the 5th May, meeting the piedmontese authorities and personalities

This is for sure a great occasion to renew and strengthen the great number of long-standing cultural, economical and institutional relationships between the two countries, taking into consideration almost 90% Rumanians living in Piedmont come from Bacau.

The meeting schedule for the Italian and Rumanian authorities is very rich and articulated; professional meetings with the Turin Industrial Union Chairman, Mr Alberto Tazzetti, the Piedmontese Foreign Chambers of Commerce Center, the Turin Province Chairman, Mr Antonio Saitta, meetings and talks at Sermig Association, without leaving out one of the events contributing to make Turin more and more famous throughout the world after the latest Olympic Games, that is the Book Fair.

There will be relaxing moments, when the institutional roles will be overcome, like a dinner with the Mayor of Turin, Mr Sergio Chiamparino, and many more authorities, like the Rumanian Consul in Milan.

In the name of all our children, we would like to say thanks to all those who worked to carry out this project.
